The cost of a lack of care is borne by real families and individuals across Texas and the nation. The below stories were curated by Disability Rights TX and are used here with permission from the interviewees. Their powerful stories illustrate the terrible cost of not funding home care.

Terri and Lily's Story

Terri Courtney talks about caring for her 11 year old daughter, Lily. Without access to a home health nurse, she and her husband face sleepless nights providing round the clock care to Lily. 

KAte and dave's Story

Kate and her husband, Dave, both have Cerebral Palsy. Due to a lack of attendants and issues with the Attendant Care Waiver Program, they are frequently left without help. Hear their powerful story.

Marcia and Hannah's story
